Aquatic bioassessments can benefit hugely from the use of DNA approaches such as DNA barcoding and metabarcoding based on physical specimens or environmental DNA (eDNA). Metabarcoding of bulk samples and/or eDNA is a complex process that makes use of modern high-throughput sequencing technologies for biomonitoring ecosystems and requires a high level of expertise. The main focus of the DNAqua-Net Training School is to build capacity on (e)DNA metabarcoding in ITC (Inclusiveness Target Countries) by covering the entire workflow of this approach.
