Bryophytes of the Tillegem forest and castle (domain of the province of West-Flanders.)

The Tillegem forest and castle domain was visited for the first time by our Bryologigal and Lichenological society. This domain owned and managed by the province of West-Flanders is situated in the vicinity of Bruges and consist mostly of beech forest with some, small and wet, alder stocks in it. Remarkable was the abundant presence of Scleropodium cespitans on a cobble stone road in the beech forest, this very rare species in Flanders is normally found on trees along riversides. Other noteworthy species were Gyroweisia tenuis and Rhynchostegiella tenella on an old brick wall and Pseudephemerum nitidum and Ditrichum pusillum among other pioneer species in a ditch in the garden of the castle.
