Effects of environment & climate on vegetation in LTER areas

Project: Legally bound

Departments, research groups and services

The aim of this project is to assess the effects of climate change on open type vegetation within Natura 2000 sites. This is done by long-term monitoring of both biotic and abiotic parameters according to the principle of ecosystem integrity. On each site a meteostation, soil moisture sensors and a piezometer are provided. This project covers several open habitat types, including HT4030, HT6510, HT2190, HT7140, HT1130 and HT1140. Five sites were selected that fall within LTER-Europe, in order to maximize the availability and exchange of data via the LTER network. Data will also be made available via LifeWatch Belgium, which co-financed this project.
