Abstract

The moor frog is a European protected amphibian that reaches the western limit of its living area in northern France and Belgium. This species of wet heathland and moorland has declined dramatically over the last 50 years due to habitat destruction and fragmentation of the remaining populations. INBO has recently developed a theoretical framework to evaluate when a population is at a favourable conservation status in terms of genetic criteria. The aim of this research is to assess the four last known French populations of this species against this framework.
